Edge banding is one of the processes in the whole house customized panel processing. On the side of the door leaf and panel, the cross-sectional panel is sealed by bonding with adhesive using edge banding strips of the same color system, which protects the panel and beautifies the decoration. Good edge banding can extend the service life of the door leaf and panel. There are three common edge banding processes on the market: EVA edge banding, Pur edge banding, laser edge banding, in terms of price, performance, glue, and other aspects, their ranking is: laser edge banding>Pur edge banding>Eva edge banding. Nowadays, many manufacturers claim to use Pur edge banding, but in addition to the process, the importance of the edge banding material cannot be ignored. The main function of the edge banding is to firmly seal the cross-section of the board to avoid environmental and usage factors (mainly moisture) from damaging the board, prevent formaldehyde volatilization inside the board, and achieve decorative and aesthetic effects. The commonly used edge banding includes strip like (usually thin wood strips, veneers or thin wood) or disc-shaped (usually PVC, ABS, melamine, solid wood veneer, etc.), with a width of about 3-5mm wider than the thickness of the board, and aluminum alloy edge banding. Currently, PVC plastic edge banding is commonly used for panel furniture, with high cost-effectiveness. PVC wood grain edge banding is printed with ink on PVC substrate, then rolled with UV paint and cured. ABS edge banding is a good material for edge banding. The edge banding made from it does not contain calcium carbonate, and after trimming, it appears transparent and smooth, without any whitening phenomenon. However, the production cost of ABS resin is relatively high, about twice the price of PVC edge banding of the same specification. Melamine edge banding, commonly known as paper edge banding, has the advantages of being easy to stick, not easy to stretch or deform when exposed to heat and cold, but due to its brittle and easy to fold characteristics, it is prone to breakage during furniture production and transportation.
